Introduction to Exodus

Text: Exodus 6:6–7
Main Point:
The book of Exodus reveals the pattern of God's redemptive work: He delivers His people, claims them as His own, and dwells with them—pointing us to the ultimate fulfillment of this pattern in Jesus Christ.

Three Movements of Exodus:

  1. Redemption – The Lord Delivers His People (Ch. 1–18)

“I will bring you out... I will rescue you... I will redeem you...” (Exodus 6:6)
➤ God hears, remembers, and acts to save.
➤ Redemption points us to Jesus, our Passover Lamb (1 Cor. 5:7).

  2. Covenant – The Lord Claims His People (Ch. 19–24)

“I will take you as My people, and I will be your God...” (Exodus 6:7)
➤ God invites His people into relationship.
➤ The Law is not how we earn salvation—it’s our response to it.
➤ Jesus secures the New Covenant in His blood (Matt. 26:28).

  3. Worship – The Lord Dwells With His People (Ch. 25–40)

“I will be your God.” (Exodus 6:7)
➤ The tabernacle points forward to Christ.
➤ Jesus is our true temple, our great High Priest, and our final sacrifice.
➤ God now dwells in us by His Spirit.

Reflection Questions:
• Have you trusted in the redemption that comes through Jesus Christ?
• Are you living as one who has been claimed by God—set apart and holy?
• Is your life marked by true worship—adoration, obedience, and communion with God?

Memory Verse:
